Multicultural Immersion in Joy

The city of Gainesville Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs presents Dances of Universal Peace (Sufi Dancing) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., July 13, at the historic Thomas Center. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Men and women of all faiths are welcome to participate in the dances, an exuberant, joyful way to connect with and embody diverse spiritual teachings. No experience or partner is necessary. Everyone joins in the singing and dancing, accompanied by live music.

Words and easy steps are taught in the moment by DiAnahita, a leader certified by Dances of Universal Peace International. Singing mantras in different languages with a universal spirit, they participate in dances inspired by Hawaiian, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Native American, goddess and Sufi sacred phrases, creating group harmony and raising joy.

Admission is $10. Location: 302 NE 6th Ave., Gainesville. For more information, visit DancesOfUniversalPeace.org and PeacockParadise.org.
