Every Child is a Cupcake
Cupcakes for Autism is a store in Lady Lake that makes cupcakes, but not the ordinary, mass-produced kind. Each one is unique and specially crafted with love to be totally beautiful and unique; just like an autistic child or adult.
They are a nonprofit, full-service bakery that conducts a workforce training program for adult children with disabilities, teaching them how to integrate themselves into the workforce and acquire skills they will need in everyday life in a place of employment.
The second part of the program is working with them on a daily basis with social skills, self-confidence and developing new friendships with like-minded peers. A planned third phase of the program, Fun Night Out, will involve taking the adult children on outings such as movie night, dinner night and bowling to the encourage development of new friendships and social skills as well as respite care for the parents who may enjoy a small break for a few hours.
