Kirtan with Devayani

Jan 02, 2017 01:29PM

Devayani will be leading An Evening of Kirtan from 7 to 8:30 p.m., February 2. Participants will experience the bliss of devotional chanting unifying the heart, mind and spirit. The practice of chanting peace-inducing chants in unison is known as kirtan, or devotional chanting. Even though an ancient practice, it has stood the test of time and remains applicable even today, so it’s not surprising that the practice of kirtan has entered the American mainstream.

Devayani began her spiritual journey at the age of 14, when she met Baba Muktananda, one of the first and foremost meditation masters to bring yoga and meditation to the West in the 1970s. She has been practicing meditation and kirtan for more than 35 years and is renowned for her devotion and singing.

Admission is $20. Location: Gainesville Retreat Center, 1551 SE 51 St., Gainesville. For more information, call 845-649-1394 or email [email protected]
