Bat Fest 2017 Gets Up Close and Personal

Sep 30, 2017 05:27PM

The 13th Annual Florida Bat Festival, held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 21, at the Lubee Bat Conservancy, will attempt to dismiss some of the many myths surrounding our leather-winged friends. The festival allows guests to view the world's largest bats, tour the conservancy grounds and enjoy the great outdoors.

There will be activities, games, educational exhibits, a Kids Zone with bounce houses, a beer garden and raffle drawing for a Walt Disney World parks package. New this year are a scavenger hunt, interactive native bat displays and an opportunity to learn how to identify bats through their echolocation calls.

Admission is $8 for adult/$5 for ages 5 to 12/free for under 5; beer garden is $25 online/$28 at the gate (includes entry). Location: 1309 NW 192nd Ave., Gainesville. For more information, visit
