Reiki for Stress, Relaxation and Healing

Sep 30, 2019 10:43PM ● By Sheila Mahan
Reiki master Debi Goldben works with clients on emotional release, energy balancing, house healing and more. She says, “The word reiki is made of two Japanese words: rei, which means "higher power" and ki, which means "life force energy". So reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy"

This Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that originated in the 1920s also promotes healing. It is administered by the laying on hands, and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through the body and causes us to be alive. The theory is that if our life force energy is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stress; and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

A treatment is said to feel like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around the subject. Goldben says, “Reiki treats the whole person, including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.
